Yacht charter in the Gulf of Thailand

 The Gulf of Thailand offers yacht charter guests a taste of adventure far from the crowded mainstream yacht charter destinations in Europe or the Caribbean. The sailing destinations of Phuket and Koh Chang offer two very different glimpses of Thai island life, with no crowds, no hustle and bustle, anchorages all to yourself, unbeatable low costs ashore and beautiful warm tropical sunshine.

Sailing from approx. 28 nm south-east of Phuket brings you to the Phi Phi Islands - one of southern Thailand's most popular destinations. Beautiful anchorages for overnight stays and the charming villages offer unique lunch breaks. Many of the islands in this region are surrounded by dazzling coral reefs so rich in marine life that you will be tempted to spend all your time in the water.

The Similan Islands lie about 54 nm northwest of Phuket. Just as the massive limestone monoliths are a distinctive geographical feature of southern Thailand, so too are these nine granite islands, as they are covered in dense tropical jungle.

Mu Koh Similan National Park protects the region's natural resources and offers some of the best diving in the world. The same volcanic eruptions that created such dramatic island landscapes eons ago also created equally dramatic underwater landscapes.

Koh Chang is a Thai island in the Koh Chang archipelago of the Trat region of Thailand. It is the second largest island in Thailand and is located near the Cambodian border. It is 13 kilometres wide and 30 kilometres long. The island is now fully developed for tourism and is one of the most popular islands in Thailand.

The cost of food and drink ashore is surprisingly affordable for yacht charter guests in Thailand! So take this into account when preparing your budget. It's very nice not to have to cook on board, but to be able to eat in the great restaurants ashore without spending a fortune....

There is no shortage of beautiful bays to have all to yourself. Anchor in a bay with a resort ashore or stay in a bay that you have all to yourself.

With only 5 to 10 nautical miles between islands, sailing is safe and relaxed and with so many islands it is easy to always find a sheltered anchorage for the evening.

That's why we only offer yachts in Thailand from operators who equip their yachts with the best quality linen and fine kitchen equipment, all of which are technically immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean when you board your charter yacht. You'll find everything you need to enjoy dining on board your charter yacht, from beautiful cutlery and wine glasses to coffee machines - but be sure to bring fresh coffee, it's not standard on board.

There's nothing like the freedom of a bareboat charter, but if you don't have the qualifications or want to take it easy this time, we can provide you with a qualified skipper to take the helm and show you the best spots. If you want to gain the qualifications to charter a yacht anywhere in the world, ask us about the IYT Barebaot Skipper Course, which can be taken during your holiday (although it takes a lot of time and effort).
